Read Thing They Carried pages 155-233end
Prepare 2 discussion questions per chapter there are 6 chapters in this section so that is 12 questions total.
These are in prep for Socratic Seminar same as last time.

2. Group Sample Argument Essay Scoring and Commenting activity

To make this up click on the link associated with the prompt that you wrote about. Read the 3 sample essays and on a separate sheet of paper give each essay a score based on the rubric on the first page. Then write a paragraph validating the reasons why you gave the sample essay that score and use some language from the rubric in addition to and to enhance your own reasons.  





NO HOMEWORK other than working on essay revisions if you need/want to.

Finals

Finals for this class will be a shortened Mock Exam with multiple choice and essay practice. Grades for this will NOT go in this term.

REVISIONS- Argument Essay- updated 1/18/17
You may revise this essay once by Wednesday 1/25/17.
Before I said that I would only allow for a one point jump but after due consideration and discussions with other AP teachers on campus we will try the following method instead. I will accept one revision by the due date above and will give you the highest of your two scores.
In order for me to accept the revision and rescore you must provide me with:
  • Old draft
  • New draft
  • Self-Evaluation form
Stapled together and submitted on or before Wednesday 1/25/17

Make a list of the things you carry.

Start off with the literal and list items in your backpack and/or purse.

Then move on to what you carry inside (feelings, worries, responsibilities, guilt etc…

  • Lit Circle Presentations
  • Group Discussions of assigned questions:
    • pages 59-81 2 AP and 2 Discussion Questions
    • pages 82-110 2 AP and 2 Discussion Questions
      • Students went around discussion questions, recording response summaries for each of their questions and answering each other's multiple choice questions. 


Homework:
Write a one to two page response to the AP style prompt at the bottom.
